When it comes to hair – thin just isn’t IN. Big, bouncy, luscious hair is what draws all the eyeballs. So if you are struggling with volume in your hair read on as we reveal a bagful of expert tricks to fatten up your locks.
Start with Shampoo:
A volumising shampoo makes a lot of difference when it comes to boosting the volume. The technology behind a professional volumising shampoo works on swelling each hair strand to twice is normal size hence giving you the illusion of fuller & thicker looking hair.
A lot of women shy away from using conditioner on their hair as they fear it will weigh down their already limp hair. However conditioning after shampoo is essential for maintaining the quality of the hair. The trick is to use a volumising conditioner which is much lighter than normal conditioners and it also works in tandem with the volumising shampoo to pump up the length of the hair. Apply the conditioner only on the ends avoiding the roots altogether.
Volumising Mousse on the roots:
Apply volumising mousse before styling your hair. Apply this on roots and ends and either brush it out with a boar bristle brush or blow dry the hair. Back comb the hair gently at the roots to create artificial volume.
Blow drying tips:
When blow drying, aim the blow dryer at the roots of the hair. If possible use a nozzle as that helps direct the flow of the air. Use a round brush and blow dry your hair upwards to maximize the volume at the crown. If you are not proficient with using a round brush simply tip the hair down and blow dry from roots to ends.
If you are wary of blow drying your hair regularly use Velcro rollers for half an hour to an hour before setting out – especially on the front section of the hair. You can apply gentle heat with a blow dryer to set the Velcro rollers faster or just leave them on longer to naturally volumise the hair.
Ideal Hair cut:
If you struggling from limp, fine hair don’t look for length as this kind of hair generally ends up looking straggly and unhealthy at the ends. Go for a cut for short layers around the face as this will naturally plump up the hair.
